Extending Your Russian

The Speaking Russian portion of the program is divided into six steps. To get started, simply choose a video from the drop down list located on the main page. The six steps are explained below.

Step 1: Vocabulary

This step introduces learners to words in the clip that may be unfamiliar. For each selection the Russian word is given. To view the english definition of the word along with an example click on the check box beside each word.

Step 2: Clips

In this step the learner watches the clip for the first time. Using the controls below the video the learner may play, pause, or rewind the video. You may watch the video as many times as youd like. Some of the clips take a few minutes to load, please be patient.

Step 3: Phrases

This step allows learners to review phrases that were spoken during the video. Read out loud both the Russian phrases and the example sentence with each phrase. When you are ready, watch the clip again.

Step 4: Comprehension

This step checks the learners comprehension of the video. A series of questions are given and the learner is prompted to select an answer. After answering each question, check to see how well you did. Return to the clip and/or 'Phrases' until you can get each question right.

Step 5: Practice

This step provides users with a chance to practice translating phrases from Russian to English. Translate each phrase out loud. if you are satisfied with your translation, click the 'Got It' button. Otherwise click 'Check It'.

Step 6: Video

This step allows learners to watch the video clip one more time. If all steps have been followed the user should understand everything that is being said.
